Mopani | Valley of the Olifants
Geography and history
The Mopani region is extremely rich in wildlife, mountains, rivers, history and cultural attractions and is situated in the valley of the great Olifants River which forms the Limpopo Province’s southern border. One of the best known wildlife conservation areas is located in the Mopani region – the Kruger National Park.
The western side of this region also offers a host of exclusive private Game Reserves for the wildlife and nature enthusiasts. The Magoebaskloof, which also runs through the Capricorn region, is another magnificent sight to behold in the Mopani region.
The principal town of the Mopani region, Tzaneen, is a part of the subtropical vegetation. These jaw-dropping sights include forests, waterfalls, dams, cherry blossoms and azaleas. For the adventurous visitors there are the rough and rocky roads of the mystic Modjadji Cycad Reserve to visit.
