Geography and history
The Sekhukhune region is named after the King of the Marota who are commonly known as the Bapedi. This region’s main economic activities are mining and agriculture because it has good soil, subtropical climate and reasonable quantities of water. Sekhukhune can also boast with a thriving farming industry that produces citrus, beans, cotton, tobacco and many more. Mineral resources found in this region include chrome, platinum and diamond deposits.
